Natural Disaster

Have you heard about the volcanic eruption on Iceland?  What an interesting paradox.  Molten lava in Iceland.  Eyjafjallajokull, a glacier, covers the volcano that last erupted in 1823.  I received some images of the erupting volcano below the aurora borealis, courtesy of Reuters.  (Check out the original article on the eruption HERE)

I thought the images were just stunning.  This natural disaster was so picturesque.  Beautiful pastels accented with bright orange and red lava.

Twinkling stars mixed with ashy grays and and snow covered, jagged peaks.

I loved the color scheme and contrast the natural disaster and creation of a beautiful image.  Of course it inspired me to look at how I can combine clothes in such a fashion.  First, I found a belt:

This suede Roberto Cavalli belt has the same ethereal color pallet and mix of soft suede with hardware details.  Available at Net-a-Portier

Then there is this beautiful Peter Pilotto dress.  It invokes that lava and ash in the earlier photos, with a touch of the pastel from the aurora borealis.  Available at OpeningCeremony.us

Turns out I think Peter Pilotto is a genius.  Look at this other evening dress from his collection:

Shiny, textured, and the black ruffles remind me of the volcanic ash erupted into the air.  It’s multicolored printed silk with twisted bead overlay.  Look at the detail:

Can I have one of each from this line, please?  Also available at Net-a-porter

Another great one is this Prabal Gurung gown from his Spring 2010 collection:

If you like this look, I suggest only adding red and orange as an accent.  Try this handbag by Halson, at Net-a-porter

Or a skirt by Pilotto, also available at OpeningCeremony.us

For everyday, I’d pair this AKA ensemble (an amazing Korean brand!), available from YesStyle.com with the Halston bag and any of these amazing Bruno Frisoni shoes:
