The Mazzy Suit

Window shopping on-line is a major hobby of mine.  Since I write so often, it’s difficult to avoid looking at the latest fashions.  Net-a-porter is one site that I visit regularly.  The site is gorgeous, and the merchandise is curated so well it seems like each piece could be museum worthy.  As I scoped the site today, I thought I had clicked on the wrong tab after looking at this swimsuit.

The Mazzy suit, by Agent Provocateur, looks strikingly similar to Rudi Gernreich‘s suit I included in a previous post on July 9th.  While there are small differences in the cutouts and color, the Mazzy seems like an homage to Gernreich’s 1971 creation.

Here’s a look at them side-by-side.  Decide for yourself:

  1. I worked for AP and remember thinking that Mazzy looked very familiar but couldn’t place it! It’s all coming back now haha.

    • Uncanny similarities, no? I always have multiple tabs open when browsing the web, and I thought I had switched over to a fashion history site. But it was Net-a-porter! :)

  2. I did the exact same double take! What the what?
